This article gives some pointers towards setting up your device when connecting to the CAR-IX. CAR-IX rules restrict the type of traffic and number of source MAC addresses that any member is allowed to send to the exchange. 

An extensive article on configurations with lots of examples is maintened by AMS-IX. Since CAR-IX is operated in a similar manner as the AMS-IX, the AMS-IX configuration guide is applicable for those services and port types that are common to both.
