Why connect to CAR-IX

The reasons to connect to an exchange can vary per connected member, for CAR-IX several reasons to connect are

  • A cost effective mean of exchanging traffic - By keeping traffic as close to the origin/destination, in the region it doesn't have to use costly international transport options
  • Network optimalisation - similarly to the above, if the traffic is exchanged close to the source the number of network hops and delays diminish and thus a better end-user experience enabled
  • Management - by reaching multiple other networks with one single connection in the region the need for several interconnects at different locations is diminished
  • Control and Authonomy - the control over traffic flows and service quality increases as there in more information and direct influence over were traffic goes and how capacity is managed. Plus the increased buying power by having local alternatives for the remainder of traffic means a better position buying tranport or transit from third parties.
