Willemstad – De 5 telecommunicatie bedrijven Digicel, MIO, Scarlet, UTS en Telbo, hebben een organisatie opgericht met de naam, “Caribbean Internet Exchange, CAR-IX” (www.car-ix.net). De Minister van Telecommunicatie en Bureau Telecommunicatie en Post hebben een belangrijke faciliterende rol vervuld in de tot stand koming van de CAR –IX. In een geliberaliseerde telecommunicatie markt voorzien van internationale telecommunicatie zeekabels is er ruimte voor een internet exchange.

The establishment of the Caribbean Internet Exchange and opening of the platform will be celebrated on the 23rd of March 2009 with an official opening event. The opening will be done by the Minister of Transport and Communications of The Netherlands Antilles - ir. M.H.P.P. Adriaens.
